Project ORCA

In the summer of 1998, a group of about 20 engineers started Project ORCA, MIT's autonomous underwater vehicle team. With little or no ocean engineering experience (but with some brains and an abundance of excitement), we created an autonomous submarine to compete in an international AUV contest. We both participated and won first place, and the team has consistently been on top of the competition ever since.
